Interview: Thunder (Italy)
Thunder (Giuseppe Di Mauro) is a hardcore producer and DJ from Italy. Thunder has had releases through the Italian hardcore label Fuck Off Records, and recently had a 2-part EP come out through Al Twisted’s Scottish-based label Darkside Unleashed. Along with other rising artists in the mainstream hardcore scene like Omi and Stormrage, we here at The Harder View think Thunder has what it takes to become a leading name in the scene in the future.
Thanks for the interview Giuseppe, The Harder View appreciates it!
THV: How long have you been into hardcore music?
Thunder: I started to listen to this kind of music at the age of 14, thanks to the old Italian compilation “Always Hardcore” and “Number One Compilation” that I still have!
THV: When did you start producing your own music?
Thunder: The first experiments in production were started in the year 2000, and I was using the
Playstation, then I decided to use a computer seriously with the software “Tracker” and later Fruity Loops, that I use even now.
THV: Were you a DJ before you started producing?
Thunder: Yes, I was. I started DJ’ing, then later I got closer to music production.
THV: How was the Thunder alias born?
Thunder: It was born at school but I don’t know how exactly! It reflects my way of being, when I arrive at parties it feels… like a thunder! And then it is very easy to remember, there are many friends that call me Thunder and not with my name!
THV: You have recently had a release through Al Twisted’s Darkside Unleashed label, and have provided them with a nice podcast. How did you come into contact with Al and his label?
Thunder: I hope you enjoyed my podcast! Sure, the contact with Al Twisted has happened thanks to another Italian producer who gave me his email, he is X-Mind, thanks to him!
THV: Do you prefer DJ or live sets?
Thunder: Well, I prefer a good DJ set, possibly of the years 2000-2004. I love this time although I do
not despise the other more recent.
THV: Which event would you most like to play at?
Thunder: There are so many event that I like, first is “Masters of Hardcore”, but I would like to participate also in events organized by Al Twisted.
THV: Which artists inspire you and would you like to work someone one day on some tracks?
Thunder: I am not inspired by anyone usually, but I really like the style of Promo and I would like to collaborate with him… maybe in the future it can happen.
THV: What can we expect from you in the future?
Thunder: There are new productions, new sounds and maybe another nice hit! Shortly there will
be some songs for free, but only a few hehehe!
THV: Any words for your fans?
Thunder: Thanks for the support, without it I cannot go forward and I hope that someday I will meet them at some great party! See ya soon!
