Biography: Headhunterz – enlightened spirit or empty shell?

headcunterzWillem Rebergen. Favourite artist of endless hordes of hardstyle fans, yet also widely criticized for his attitude and music alike. Tracks like Hate It or Love It and, especially, Just Say My Name have attracted a lot of negative attention, both for the music and for the lyrics. With Headhunterz cracking a ‘joke’ that can certainly be frowned upon towards the owner of Global Hardstyle Forum, it is time to ask ourselves: who is this man really, and is the criticism justified?

The attack

First of all, let us take a look at the incident that prompted us to explore Headhunterz’ background in the first place. Yesterday, towards the end of the afternoon, Carl surprised me by sending a link to Headhunterz’ homepage, of all places. As I got there I quickly realized what was wrong: a lame and direct assault towards ScuL, aka Martijn Bakker,  founder and developer of Global Hardstyle Forum. About an hour later the post had already been removed but furious GHF denizens had been quick to take a screenshot of it – it is posted below. What you cannot see is that the picture in the post redirected to the GHF frontpage.

Headhunterz - ScuL

What could have brought Rebergen to such an act? Clearly, the image could have been anyone and it certainly is not really Bakker. Besides, thanks to the screenshots hell and internet drama were raised on major and minor forums across the web, with some people appreciating the joke factor, but most comments recognizing the childish sneer that this really was. There appears to be no direct cause for Headhunterz to do this. GHF is widely known for being generally anti-nustyle and criticizing the works of Headhunterz and his likes ferociously, and the public debate fulminated in Rebergen making Hate It or Love It. However, ScuL has been bored of the debate for a long time and hasn’t even commented on HHz’ latest releases.

This curious and unwarranted lash at GHF and its owner gives good reason to try and comprehend the mind behind the music, a thing I have long been fascinated by. In order to do this we have to make a short biography. Unfortunately, I have to base a lot of it on rumours – I will try not to make this a tabloid article, so please bear with me.

A rock & roll blitzcareer

Rebergen’s career started back in the year 2003. He had always been into music, having been in a kid’s choir for years, but at the time, he went to his first parties. Among them was Qlimax. He promptly picked up producing and was quick to push out his first releases, together with his friend Bobby van Putten under the Nasty D-Tuners alias. When they were starting to be recognized as upcoming talents, things became busier and Willem focused less and less on his studies at the Rock Academy, at which Bobby was also a student. It is said that Willem was kicked out of the house, yet in this Partyflock interview he states that during that period, he could rely on his mother to help him with his troubles. Luckily, hardstyle mobster The Prophet recognized their talent and supposedly even let Rebergen move in with him for the time being.

Whether Rebergen had a roof over his head or not, Prophet & Headhunterz went into the studio together and they were given the chance to release more of their work. Smash hits like The Sacrifice ensued. Thanks to The Prophet’s major influence within the scene, Headhunterz were booked for a performance at Defqon.1 2006. According to Willem, Bobby quit hardstyle right before that gig in order to focus on his studies. Rebergen, on the other hand, decided to pursue a hardstyle career, dropped his studies and went to Defqon – where he collapsed on a toilet due to drug (and alcohol?) abuse.  Be it the nerves or careless thrillseeking, he arrived for his gig 15 minutes late, after being awoken by a group of friends who happened to know which Dixie-bauthaus he was in.

Later that year, he got the opportunity to play at Qlimax, only 3 years after first visiting it and being introduced to the scene. Again, this was thanks to the Prophet’s influence. A q-dance.nl interview taken after the gig gives us a unique insight into the young man’s – he was 21 at the time – mind. In it, he says he is so happy he has finally ‘found something at which I succeed reasonably well’. The image of a troubled youngster with unusually low self-esteem arises – a gullible guy introduced into the word of hardstyle & roll, drugs and fame way too fast to handle properly.

That image of insecurity is backed further by the aforementioned interview on Partyflock. An entire paragraph is devoted to Rebergen’s description of how Dov Elkabas aka The Prophet has supported him over the past few years, guarding him from the neverending evil of criticism, bookings, copyrights; of being a big shot musician in general. Even more confirmation can be found in an interview with The Prophet, A-Lusion & Headhunterz from october 2007. Both Prophet and A-Lusion are laid-back, speaking casually about the upcoming SWAT. Headhunterz, however, is clearly not at ease, smoking and giving off a truckload of nonverbal signals that indicate nervosity.

Popstar syndrome

Despite his apparent insecurities, the fame that he attained way too quickly seems to have made Willem Rebergen develop a kind of popstar syndrome. An I’m-the-best-and-I’ll-do-what-I-want attitude that can also be spotted in certain famous rappers, for example. Illustrations of this mindset of his are plenty. During recent years, there have been various reports of him threatening people recording his new tracks with mobile phones. Stanley3000‘s first YouTube account was closed after complaints from Rebergen – he did not want his new tracks to be known to the public, apparently. From first-hand experience I can say that when encountered at parties, he often radiates so strong a mixture of anger, arrogance and total disinterest that it becomes frightening.

So far, we have not even considered certain releases of his. Besides Hate It or Love It, Just Say My Name is the most blatant example of Headhunterz’ style. Even though the message behind it is completely justifiable – dealing with mindless bashing all the time must be a pain – the way in which it is brought is plain wrong. It truly reminds of that gangsta hip-hop attitude: diss battles, unnecessarily insultive behaviour, and above all an unhealthy love for one’s own self.  Rebergen, tucked up in the comfort of this newly found barrier against the evil outside world, does not seem to realize it is an attitude the rest of the hardstyle world despises, further damaging his reputation with other DJs and producers. A reputation which purportedly wasn’t too good already, which makes us wonder how things will go for Headhunterz in…

The future?

Through analysis of his career, several interviews, and finally a lot of rumours we have come to the conclusion that Willem Rebergen is irrefutably one of the least loved people in the hardstyle scene. The cause for this appears to be a certain mindset caused by a combination of internal and external factors, the most important being his way too fast rise to fame. At the moment, a large part of the public still adores his music. Yet if he is to retain his position within the scene he will have to change his attitude soon, as more and more people start to dislike and even hate him. He cannot afford more jokes like the one towards ScuL, ever increasing his amount of enemies while decreasing his amount of fans.

With melodically undeniably good releases like Forever Az One and Rock Civilization, it can be said that there is some kind of enlightened spirit within the man’s mind. However, it seems to have retreated into the darkest depths of his psychological shell: pompous, arrogant, driven by nothing but fame from an era fading quickly. 2009 will be crucial for Headhunterz: will he choose to be enlightened spirit once more? Or will the spirit part, leaving behind nothing but an empty shell…?

Disclaimer: There are a few points that, if left unattended, would make this article below my quality standards. Yet it is impossible to integrate these into the article itself, so I shall address them here.

First of all, bashing. This article probably seems like yet another mindless Headhunterz bash. I can tell you it certainly is not: I have pondered long on what to write here exactly, and tried to be not exclusively negative. I would also like to state that I still love quite a couple of the man’s releases. However, his attitude, as is obvious from the article, bugs me a lot.
Second, arrogance on my part. To think that I can get to the bottom of a man’s mind from just a few rumours and interviews? Arrogance, you say! And you’re right about that. So hereby, I say that in my personal opinion, the above is the most likely explanation for his behaviour. I do not claim to be certain about this, yet I feel that my findings are at least partially true.

Third point. Hi Willem. Yes, I do realize that this piece of writing may very likely end up being read by the very person it is about. And let me tell you, if I read something like this about myself I would be furious. This is why, should Headhunterz read this, he is invited to contact me at ool@theharderview.com. Even though in this article I have drawn some negative conclusions, my attitude is still open and I would in fact like to be proven wrong. So shoot.

I can't belive what you said about headhunterz homepage. I didn't see it by my eyes and it's the first time that i hear about that strange story :S
All i can i say is even it's correct, maybe a guy just haked his site.

Headhunterz took drugs ??? He was adopted by the prophet ?????!!!!
Like i taught this site is anti headhunterz nu style. And you are using so rediculous arguments to destroy headhunterz carrer. I'll see what you are going to post tomorrow. It will be my last visit cause evry time i come here to talk about Hardstyle and Djs, i make a confilt with guys like you.

He clearly stated that certain parts were based on rumors. It's commonly accepted that HHz productions are not as good as they used to be, and that his attitude these days is completely messed up. If you want to be a fanboy and refuse to acknowledge that, then you probably are better off leaving.

February 26, 2009 at 1:28 pm

Haha you clearly haven't been around long enough. His site was definitely NOT hacked.

February 26, 2009 at 2:04 pm

Are you kidding?
Why do you take things so literal? Im sure he wasn't leagally adopted by the Prophet.

The article was not an open attack on Headhunterz in anyway. Ool clearly sympathizes with Willem.

“dealing with mindless bashing all the time must be a pain “

But he also addresses the fact that Headhunterz is letting the fame go to his head and it's hurting his career. He's like the Kanye West of Hardstyle: cocky, self-centered, and an “I'm God” mentality. The articles on this site are meant to be unbiased and as accurate as possible. Obviously you are nothing more than fanboy and probably have no real information about Headhunterz to back up your hostile rant.

“I didn't see it by my eyes and it's the first time that i hear about that strange story”

What? Do you sit on his site and click refresh all day to make sure you see changes?
And if you haven't heard about this story then you really are out of the loop.

So please. If you are going to sit there with HHz' cock in your mouth, do it somewhere else.

nice article !
deserves him well for being a freaking douchebag (-_-)”

great article.
hhz appears to be the kind of act that is more concerned about the fame and the “i iz da hardztylez djs and i iz da bestestzzzz” instead of being about the music.
he is the one that epitomises the current scene where generic nu is the way and there is very little originality or heart in many of the tracks.
hopefully it changes for the better sooner, rather than later

Great article mate :)

great article man!

there are only a few things to add here:

- when you get more populair, everybody has something to talk about, good or bad
- 2 days ago i was on GHF to see what your friend Scul was talking about, only bad things about HHz,
so this article is not really objective in my opinion
- after almost 4 years of being bashed by the complete GHF forum HHz finally hits back..
- that Scul guys has to much negative energy around him and his forum, he must have a bad Karma.

cheers and go on like this!

Very good article. I agree with you completely, allthough I don't always agree with you on the quality of his music. Anyway, that joke was pretty lame, and things like that only work against him. I hope he contacts you, so he could show he's not a total douchebag, and I hope he can prove you wrong.

February 27, 2009 at 4:06 am

this article is done verry wel, aswell his positive as his negative part is in it
he made verry good tracks!
i still love his first tracks like aiming for your brain, the sacrifice, and even some of his new tracks
like a new day, fear of darkness and such.
but his arrogance can't be denied, once a friend of me went to him to talk to him and he just turned his back like he was a ghost. and like i went to talk with activator, dbstf, stephy, dj ruthless and other artists and those people were very friendly!
i hope headhunterz will change his attitude before it's to late, because now he got a lot of fans and he got his own security by the prophet, but if keep on doing this kind of acts he will lose all the respect that people are giving him.

February 27, 2009 at 4:24 am

Jimmy is totally right about !
Get in His position

- Every Release of yours would be bashed to ground
- They don't even right your Artistname anymore , instead they replace it with a Puke Smiley
- 100's of People write it over and over again , that they don't like your Music and it's total Bullshit

If GHF talks about Childishaction they should think about there own Forum which is in some Sorts not very Grownup

Eh, as if Hate It Or Love It and Just Say My Name weren't enough already. Hahaha.

February 27, 2009 at 5:09 am

Great Article, I'd known about HHz childish acts, and heard about the Defqon 2006 mishaps long time ago xD funny its finally out there nowadays.

As for Scul, he doesn't openly bash on HHz that often, yes obviously he doesn't like Nu-style, but what if Nu-style was taken away and replaced with only oldstye? the Nu-fanatics would probably be in an uproar and be very angry, wondering where their “Hardstyle” went off too, and they probably would ask “Why are there no more Long breaks, empty metallic kicks and cheesy melodies, at the big events!?!?!”
-.-

“Long breaks, empty metallic kicks and cheesy melodies” because you can't deny, Nu-style really is all that… its fact not opinion…

Obviously some people will be writing shit about Nu-style at GHF, because the majority there don't listen to whats cool, whats new, they listen to what they think is good… A lot of people like Nu at GHF too…, those guys also like to bash on the oldstyle releases, and you can see that too on GHF…

I love oldstyle, and I can like certain nu-style releases, but a lot of what's released nowadays, just isn't that good…

ah well, people who only like nu-style will probably never understand why Scul, and so many people stand strong about their opinions on Nu-style, until nu-style dies off, because it really is like a fad…

February 27, 2009 at 5:13 am

Hmm .. I don't know what to think.

First of all: Ool : nicely written, but it's like you're coverring yourself up.
By reading the cursive text, it's like you didn't mean what you said in the article.
And that's a shame I think.

Second: you have some good arguments, but using the lyrics of two songs as an argument?
Come on!
If you're going to base your opinion about someone's personality on that …
Ok, the text of songs like JSMN and Hate It or Love It are arrogant, but I think ( and ofcourse I don't know if this is true ) that those lyrics are just an element for an atmosphere that HH tries to create in his song.
And in my opinion he succeeds in creating that kind of atmosphere and I THINK that a lot of people just misinterpreted (is that the word?) that.

Third: I find the rumour that Dov would have 'adopted' HH or take him in his house hard to believe. Cause if I've understood it well, Dov didn't even knew HH that good back than, so it's kind of odd.

( Sorry for the bad english )

February 27, 2009 at 5:50 am

noone will really know if he was adopted or not, i heard about that while ago though… basically the same story as above ^ HHz was kicked out of his house and dov took him in, they made music, and he used HHz as a cash cow..

February 27, 2009 at 6:45 am

That ScuL idiot finally got what he desereves big time

TWO years spent on insulting HHz!! In EVERY way! Openly writing private stuff aboy him who NOBODY knows except Willem himself!!

To ScuL: get a chick, man and have some sex here and there! U need it!!

I've been to GHF for a long time now, and I'm a nu-style fan, and I gotta say this:

Hearing the story's both sides is probably the best way for you all to understand this.
ScuL may have said some harsh things about Willem from time to time, but I thought the battle-axe was buried by now… Does anyone of you even want to win this? Or do you just wanna trashtalk eachother till one of you gives up?

This war is endless people! Get along or start listening to RNB or sumthin…. Geez….

February 27, 2009 at 8:36 am

Think, man. If ScuL were Headhunterz' worst enemy, how would he know private things about him that 'nobody knows except Willem himself'. ScuL only knows the things that every other DJ knows about Headhunterz. The scene isn't that big, you know, and DJs/producer do actually talk to each other, about each other.

February 27, 2009 at 8:43 am

Well, that's an out-going article you have there..
Although I feel sad for Willem, I must say I feel like all these things are true..
But that's just the way I have experienced him.
Either way I hope he will see the light somewhere soon and be able to
recognize his mistakes..

February 27, 2009 at 12:36 pm

And ofcourse he wasnt adopted you stupid idiots!!
It's just a figure of speech..
He has great contact with his parents..

February 27, 2009 at 1:50 pm

So June, how do you know all of this?

February 27, 2009 at 3:23 pm

June? As in June, Activator's ex, after whom one of the greatest songs of all time was named? Whether it's you or not, welcome. This is one interesting bit of info, I was unaware that he has a girlfriend again now, let alone he lives with her… Actually, makes me feel a little more positive about the whole ordeal.

In fact, I think this is so interesting, would you mind getting in contact? Just send me a message at ool@theharderview.com, or contact me through Partyflock – search for 'Ool', you'll find me.. Based on your info, I might want to rewrite the article a bit. Either way, thanks for the input (Y)

February 27, 2009 at 5:55 pm

then why write it like this in the first place?… never heard of stickin with an oppinion???
..you're really weak

February 27, 2009 at 6:26 pm

not just manuels ex

February 27, 2009 at 6:27 pm

Never heard of changing your opinion upon receiving new information? And actually, I might not even change my opinion, it simply depend. If I do, however, receive new information, I might want to update the article accordingly, in order for it to be as factually accurate as possible.

For example: when you suggested A New Day was a collab between HHz and NC, I contacted you asking for the source of that info. If you had provided me with a reliable, trackable source I would have incorporated that into the article. However, it turned out to be too weak a rumour to base anything upon, so I didn't edit the article. Simple as that.

February 27, 2009 at 6:32 pm

yeah whatever.. some sources dont want to be reveiled because its 'inside information' and thus i dont dont tell..
and if you want this article to be totally facts i suggest you delete about 75% of it..
this is just following the 'lets-bash-headhunterz-hype' bullshit

February 27, 2009 at 7:02 pm

Your sources with 'inside information' are obviously full of shit then. And I'm pretty sure that it's been clarified that isn't a typical HHz bashing. It provides the unaware people [like you, seeing as you probably don't know much with all those retarded sources you have] with an insight as to why people dislike the man.

February 28, 2009 at 3:43 am

Well I am Willem's ex-girlfriend and I know him very well as he let me see different sides of him..
I know for a fact that a lot of the things in this article are true, BUT he doesn't do these things on purpose.. Come on, he is just a kid who clearly needs to find his own way into the system.
I felt a lot of anger towards him for a very long time, but then I realized, aren't we all just human?
And don't we all deserve a chance to learn from our mistakes?
Willem's life hasn't been easy and he needs some proper guidens, and I don't think he is getting any at the moment.. Living a complete adult life and only being able to depend on yourself is a hard thing to do + taking care of your woman who didn't came from near by + a big ass career he's got.. I think people should cut him some slack..
I agree about the arrogance and foolish way of handeling things, but isn't this all just a mask and probably a fase? Well let's hope so ;)

February 28, 2009 at 4:43 am

Ow and Ool, I can't find you on partyflock.. just look me up,
it's also June there..
Should find me easily..

February 28, 2009 at 4:50 am

And I feel like a new day should be dedicated to his woman..
As she is foreign..
That's just sweet!!

February 28, 2009 at 4:57 am

Even if the guy passed out due to heroin on a toilet while being banged by 6 big negro guys at one time, I still wouldn't care. Maybe that's the difference between people that feel the need to write such kind of stuff on the Internet and me. I have a life that's interesting enough to keep myself busy with. And in that life, I like to listen to good music and I couldn't care less if it's being made by a drugaddicted woman having tattoo's all over her body, a girl that decided to shave off her hair or a guy that has a problem with some insignificant guy on a forum. Think of all these examples. Extremely talented people but the reason they became even bigger is because WE MADE THEM! It's always easier to focus on someone else's life when yours isn't satisfactory enough. Anyway, I'm out, I've got a life to live. And the rest I would like to say about this case, well, feel free to visit Q-dance.nl next week and read my column. That is, if you're able to take of your blinkers….

February 28, 2009 at 6:55 am

Impressive. You managed to take away the reason for your reply in the reply itself.

If you don't care, don't reply. And don't worry, I'll be reading your column.

February 28, 2009 at 7:15 am

Well, that's an out-going article you have there..
Although I feel sad for Willem, I must say I feel like all these things are true..
But that's just the way I have experienced him.
Either way I hope he will see the light somewhere soon and be able to
recognize his mistakes..
x

February 28, 2009 at 7:36 am

And ofcourse he wasnt adopted you stupid idiots!!
It's just a figure of speech..
He has great contact with his parents..

February 28, 2009 at 7:38 am

I don't care about his private life. I care about this scene and about the music. THAT'S why I reply. You totally missed the clue out of it (must be the blinkers ;) ). I've always cared about the dance scene, it's my work, my passion and my life. And who's speaking about in interview? Anyway, I'll see you there than.

February 28, 2009 at 7:41 am

btw, Willem has his own house, and lives with his girlfriend!

February 28, 2009 at 7:43 am

I could be mistaken but I do believe it was you interviewing him after Qlimax 2006.

Also, I may have missed the point in your reply, but you missed the point of this article, as well. It is about the scene, and it is about a new attitude that is being brought into it. A very bad attitude. Note the last paragraph in which I wish for him to start making music as good as in his glory days again, not being hampered by this… gangster mentality anymore.

In order to illustrate and explain that attitude, I had to use examples from what can very well be called his private life. I did not do this in order to bash those things he did, but in order to explain why he is currently not the most loved person in the scene.

Yes. See you at q-dance.nl

February 28, 2009 at 7:49 am

*boyfriend

:D

February 28, 2009 at 8:50 am

So June, how do you know all of this?

February 28, 2009 at 10:23 am

Nicely written, my friend, I hadn't heard about the 'joke' story yet.

The 'fanboys' around here think I'm wrong but the truth is that HHz will have to change his attitude if he wants to be the loved DJ he pretends to be. Ool, I have to say that you use some bad arguments, his lyrics for example, but I get your point: HHz is a person who really needs to change his attitude. Nu style fans feel different but I think that his releases these days aren't as good as the old ones (Victim of My Rage, End of My Existence & The Sacrifice). His act together with The Prophet at Qlimax is still one of my favourites but his new stuff can really bore me in some ways.

I agree with June: “I hope he will see the light somewhere soon and be able to recognize his mistakes.”. I hope he'll finally realize these mistakes and he will be able retain his reputation in this scene.

“From first-hand experience I can say that when encountered at parties, he often radiates so strong a mixture of anger, arrogance and total disinterest that it becomes frightening.”

Ool, you're absolutely right about this. At The Qontinent, you told me that you didn't want to talk to HHz because of his attitude. Remember when we went to The Prophet? A complete difference! The Prophet even posed for pictures with us but HHz would never do such things. I agree with your article and I hope dat Willem will contact you to explain his behaviour and prove that you're wrong.

February 28, 2009 at 12:43 pm

February 28, 2009 at 12:55 pm

then why write it like this in the first place?… never heard of stickin with an oppinion???
..you're really weak

February 28, 2009 at 1:26 pm

not just manuels ex

February 28, 2009 at 1:27 pm

Never heard of changing your opinion upon receiving new information? And actually, I might not even change my opinion, it simply depends.

February 28, 2009 at 1:32 pm

yeah whatever.. some sources dont want to be reveiled because its 'inside information' and thus i dont dont tell..
and if you want this article to be totally facts i suggest you delete about 75% of it..
this is just following the 'lets-bash-headhunterz-hype' bullshit

February 28, 2009 at 2:02 pm

Your sources with 'inside information' are obviously full of shit then. And I'm pretty sure that it's been clarified that isn't a typical HHz bashing. It provides the unaware people [like you, seeing as you probably don't know much with all those retarded sources you have] with an insight as to why people dislike the man.

February 28, 2009 at 3:10 pm

Its pretty clear that half of the people here didnt read what Ole was writing.
It wasnt a pointless bash on Headhunterz, but he was trying to shet some light on things.
I dont like what headhunterz did, but that doesnt change the fact that – for what i´ve seen GHF can be a really nasty place to be.. If you like nu-style then you will get bashed there, and im no fan of headhunterz latest releases, but the crowd loves it, hes just pulling a showtek, and soon nobody will remember him..
Showtek who? Showtek what?

March 2, 2009 at 2:37 am

I agree with this article.. Headhunterz is one son of bitch. He's arrogant with his productions against other ones. Also his producing quality is just pure crap. I know plenty amateur producers not signed and having 10 times the skills .. So fuck this gayboy

March 2, 2009 at 4:56 am

Hahaha laughing my head off..
Showtek who? Showtek what? hahaha

March 2, 2009 at 5:20 am

IMO Wackiejacky shows the same arrogance as headhunterz, while trying to defend the man.
This seems dumb, that Wackiejacky guy, whoever he is, should just bring the mang HHZ himself here, and make him come with his statement.
I doubt that Wackiejacky or headhunterz for that matter, would care what i think about them, but this is what i have to say:
If you would stop being so arrogant, wiseass, WE ARE FROM SCANTRAXX AND WE ARE BETTER THAN EVERYONE ELSE, then you could maybe realize that the internet (the what?) is a powerfull tool.
Allow me to comment on the bullshit you wrote Mr. Wackiejackie (pretty annoying name to write btw)
“with some insignificant (this insignificant guy still made you write a pretty long comeback) guy on a forum. Think of all these examples. Extremely talented people but the reason they became even bigger is because WE MADE THEM!” So, you – the people of what country? Q-dance? Decides who makes it, and who doesnt. If it was up to you, Noisecontrollers would die in a carwreck rigth?
Im so fed up with people like you, you say you love the scene, but people like you – who say this homepage or any other hardstyle related webpage (like GHF) has zero effect on the community you are wrong.
I have learned a great deal from the people on this page, and alot others, this is where i stay updated, its a second home.
“MMM MY PRECIOUS, MY PRECIOUS COCAINE” said the little headhunter.
– peace.

March 2, 2009 at 7:42 am

I have might been a bit aggresive, in what i wrote there, and dont take me calling Wackiejacky 'Mr.' i ment that as an insult, i just didnt know it was a chick.
I wish for the day that Headhunterz would just sit down, smoke a blunt with ScuL and work things out..
So much easier.
– PEACE OUT, LAY LOW ON THE ARROGANCE.

March 2, 2009 at 10:12 am

I don't know what blunt you've been smoking yourself :D but I think you're the one that doesn't really get the essence here (btw, Smoking a blunt ain't gonna happen since ScuL hates drugs (otherwise he wouldn't gave gone so balistic on that cocaine story). And who says people don't try to talk things out with him?).

It's indeed a fact that Internet is a powerfull tool and as you just proved, people believe a lot of stuff they read. Even if it's horse shit. Those people judge artists on personal stories in stead of on his music. They hear a DJ didn't say 'hi' to one of his fans one day (not even knowing what the cause of that was 'cause they feel that whenever you're an artist you can never have a bad day and you ought to be some sort of robot being nice and friendly always) and decide he's an arrogant prick. Without even knowing him. There are people that read one comment on the Internet and decide “that wackiejacky with the annoying name must be a cocky arrogant guy that wants the Noisecontrollers to die in a car crash”…

We have a proverb in Holland that goes like “de klok wel hebben horen luiden maar niet weten waar de klepel hangt”. It means some people think they subject, but the essence eludes them. That goes for a lot of people and in my humble opinion, also for the guy that wrote this bio. First of all, you don't write a bio without asking the concerning artist for his permission. Second, you don't post things as facts that you didn't verify. And third, like I said, it shouldn't even matter. Whether HHZ is an arrogant prick that does whatever. It's about the MUSIC. You can like that or not, simply listen to something else than. How hard can it be?

Anyway, I have to go, I need to go scratch my balls :D

March 2, 2009 at 11:09 am

It means some people think they subject = It means some people think they know the subject (sorry, typing mistake)

March 2, 2009 at 11:11 am

Haha, maybe i was a bit blunt in my accusations.
I dont know the story between ScuL and Headhunterz, and this is getting more and more Thera/Brennan. I dont know any of them personaly.
But femang, this is a free world (hopefully) and there is something called freedom of speech, and i think Ole is using that to the fullest extend.

You are rigth, it is about the music, and to be honest, i dont like Headhunterz newer releases, though i have never experienced him live, met him personal, or given birth to his child, but on the other hand, i havent seen ScuL release anything for quite some time now, maybe he is jaloux?
As the sun is clearing up, i think we need some inside knowledge of the situation before being able to judge ScuL, and let alone headhunterz. Maybe they are just pulling a prank, and comming clean on the 1. April..

March 2, 2009 at 11:18 am

I personally really liked a lot of his releases around one year ago. Hate it or love it, blame it on the music, etc. Basically all the tracks on the Qlimax 2007 CD was my favourites at that time. Now, however, they dont get the 5-star rating in my media player, but I dont have anything against him at all. He has never hurt me or anything.

Nice article, though.

Probably some Danish rubbish, this summer he WILL!!! come with me to Defqon and I'll show him the good life. Right mangusmang (H)?

But on topic;
Its a nicely written article Ool, but i don't really approved what you have done. This guy has been bashed and trashed on “MANY” forums. How would you have been feeling after you got slapped in the face over and over again? I know how i would have been feeling. I would be annoyed and angered.
It certainly wasn't professional what he has done on his site with the Scul thingy, but he don't we all get pushed over the line sometimes?! He is still a 22[?] year old guy and still have a lot to learn. Not everyone can just put some caps next to their eyes and just try to walk straight ahead like nothing is happening. Some people do care what other people say about them.

I know that your have written this article as objective as it could been Ool, but in the mean while i also know how you feel about him [read: Just say my name vinyl review]. I just know that you are trying to get a discussion out of this, but in a negative way. :-P

And about his latest releases, maybe the reason why his latest productions are bad [not my opinion] is that he his depressed and why is he depressed. Because he got bashed occasionally, by whom?! By US! So who can we blame for that only ourself!!!
Hahaha i should be a professor or something (H)

March 8, 2009 at 3:44 pm

Note the Just Say My Name review was done by Carl, not me. And I've actually come to disagree with that review more and more, I can't deny simply loving the melody of The Fear of Darkness and I don't actually mind A New Day, as much as the stolen intro bugs me. Production quality is still subpar though, but from what I've heard his next release might change that.

Note the Just Say My Name review was done by Carl, not me. And I've actually come to disagree with that review more and more, I can't deny simply loving the melody of The Fear of Darkness and I don't actually mind A New Day, as much as the stolen intro bugs me. Production quality is still subpar though, but from what I've heard his next release might change that.

I ment the review of the fear of darkness/ a new day sorry. But that one is also done by Carl. So i take my words back what i said about you Ool, sorry (F)(K) ;-) .

i had much works these 2 weeks that's why i didn't find time to reply.
Ool and all the others. We have each one a completly different opinion. You hate headhunterz. I love it. You will try to do the impossible to destroy his reputation just cause you have preduges on him that MAKE YOU LISTEN his productions in another way. I don't know who are you from. But it's sure you are all influenced by that idea. I'm from tunisia. There's no one who listen to hardstyle here. So if i like a song it's not cause someone told me it's a good one and if hate it it's because it really sucks like “HHz – woznotwoz” !!!
Go hell !!!! HHz 4 ever <<<3

It seems pretty obvious that you didnt read anything Ole wrote.
He doesnt hate Headhunterz. As he also wrote somewhere:”Taste vary, quality doesnt”.

As a professional hardstyle DJ from the states, I am quite fond of Willem and NuStyle alike. NuStyle is bringing so many new elements to hardstyle and is what will carry it into the future. Hard Dance is getting huge, and will no doubtly become a universal sound in good time.

I have been kicked out of the house when I was 17, and from there hard times ensued. He is very lucky he is where he is and I think he deserves the fame he gets.

Drugs, on one hand…why is that a fuckin' issue? You mean it's wierd to go to parties with thousands and thousands of hardstyle headz and not drink a few beers and smoke a few joints and pop a few pills?

Open your eyes people, life isn't perfect and if you think hardstyle or any other branch of electronic music does not have a wave of drugs involved with it, then you need to reconsider the lifestyle that you've chosen.

Besides, have you ever listened to some real hard shit high as fuck? No? You should!

Some of the greatest music in the world was created by drug-crazed, selfish physchopaths.

What is this article trying to prove?

March 22, 2009 at 9:45 pm

That it might be a good idea for Rebergen to behave a little nicer, so he can go focus on making good music instead of fighting with people.

Also, people keep picking out the Defqon.1 drugs bit. I'm not saying it's a bad thing that he uses drugs, as I bet he isn't the only one by a long stretch. It's just a means of illustrating the way his career has developed: too fast, and with too little guidance. Also, it's kind of silly to be 15 minutes late for your set on Defqon.

This article and website has a kind of “GHF style”…lots of rumors, no neutral and professional view of the problem, low critics…like on GHF…perhaps Hhz has a lot of haters, but Scul and GHF also have their good amounts of haters too…as for me i don't like “haters”…they are f*ckin boring on everything !!

This article is a bunch of crap cauz it's more like a tabloïd thing, this stupid war against nu-style (and artist like Hhz) is childish to the bone, i'm really fed up about this !!

Be mature, if you don't like sthing, ignore it…take more time to speak about what you like…

his music is godness.

iam from holland, and a big fan from headhunterz..
Ive almost saw him at each party in the frontline
His behaviour may change, but that is normal. Wouldnt you change if you get from rookie to pro in 1 time ? offcourse you would….

He's so into the music itself, you can notice that by looking at him while he plays his favo tracks.
He's movin and dancin in it, which means he enjoys.

… all of this makes a bit sense dont you think ?

Ok, Dude, Imma producer. I produce nu style. and guess what? Ive agreed with this guy about hhz before I ever found this article. Plus hhz latest releases have sucked. Pretty badly too. I think he needs a reality check, HIS MUSIC ISNT PLUR. I live in the US, so i know alot about the whole gangster / rap / mindless hate for fightings sake stuff, and HHZ reminds me of the crap most americans listen to. I still dont know how rap even made it big, much less as the predominent music genre in the west…. its really sad :(
I liked who hhz used to be, before he got overly self confident and bitchy.

i reckon Showtek have that cocky, self centred “I am God” mentality more than Headhunterz. Ive seen them both live and VERY up close and i noticed that the difference is i can tell Headhunterz TOTALLY loves his fans. He even quietly went in the crowd and took photos of himself with his fans with his own camera to remember the the night. He doesnt sit up high n mighty in the DJ booth far away form the crowd. and when i blew him a kiss, he threw me a Headhunterz t shirt!

he was the best and most enjoyable hardstyle act LIVE that i have seen so far in my years of raving.

I ADORE HIM

Headhunterz makes good music,……..not as good as he used too,…..and I dont give a fuck about whats he is like,……….but he should stop using the gangster,…rap,……attitude ,..cuz it really fuckes up the genre of hardstyle ,………….I hate when producers include rapping parts,……….its just lame,………except vocal singing parts which sometimes makes a tune very good,………and again about the gangster,…rap,……attitude,…………I stopped listening to hardcore,…….for that very reason,………….hearing rappers in the hardcore tunes makes me sick cuz it just kills the vibe,………….Harstyle is not about being gangster,….being cool or bad,…………..its about having a good time enjoying the music,………and having a good vibe,………..not being bad or evil,…

I totally agree with the article , Headhunterz is a arrogant BIATCH , and his fanbase is made of people who listen to hardstyle for like 1 , 2 , 3 years they only know nu-style , listen to some 2005 or 2006 hardstyle that wos the shit! , he made some good productions like rock civilization , forever az one but these days they suck and the dude is so fucked up these days bleeeergh…

March 12, 2010 at 6:37 am

Headhunterz is one of my favorite artists. Along with DBSTF and Showtek.

March 20, 2010 at 9:09 am

u guys r idiots headhunterz is the fuckin shit! nu style is too. This idiot that got offended is just a pussy. What a insicure cock suckin tool.

May 5, 2010 at 10:25 am

*headhunterz is the man!! we love him in ireland!!!*

speak for yourself man..he is crap in my opinion.

good article

His personality does seem arrogant and the man Can not take critism. When i left a bad comment on one of his track i got banned from his youtube account. The whole Scantraxx and Q-dance situation sucks to man..Nu-style is dominating and has really ruined the good days of hardstyle
